Martha M. Getty

Martha M. Getty, 100, formerly of Berwick, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Grandview Health Homes in Danville. She was born November 27, 1914 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Charles and Sarah (Yost) Harmon. Martha worked as a seamstress and sewing machine operator at Akers Manufacturing Company of Berwick until retiring in 1984. She was the oldest living member of Grace Lutheran Church in Berwick. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands: Kenneth Miscannon, Earl Wanzie, and Charles Getty, a son, Robert L Wanzie, and step-daughter, June Clark. Surviving Martha are step-daughter, Shirley Ker and her husband, Edward of rural Danville, three granddaughters: Lisa Armstrong, Christine Kenney, and Linda Norword, all of Baltimore, two great-grandchildren, and step-son-in-law, Donald Clark of rural Catawissa Martha's funeral is 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 27 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Her pastor, Chad Hebrink will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Elysburg.
