Marlene J. (Zaransky) Bogert

Marlene J. (Zaransky) Bogert, 83, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick. Born in Newburgh, NY on February 13, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Herman “Hymie” and Florence “Flo” (Marshall) Zaransky.

Marlene attended school in Newburgh, NY. She had been a long-time employee of the Press Enterprise in Bloomsburg. On August 17, 1996, she wed John A. Bogert, Jr., with whom she would share 28 years of marriage. Marlene loved spending time with her friends; playing Bingo and visiting the casino. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and painting, and repainting, her home. She treasured time spent with her beloved family, by whom she will be deeply missed.

Surviving Marlene is her husband, John A. Bogert, Jr., of Berwick; children: Arthur Cover of TN, Daniel Cover and wife, Tammy, of Bloomsburg, Sherry Bentivoglio and husband, Michael, of Middletown, NY, Trudy Tomanelli and husband, Domenick, of Marlboro, NY, and Wesley Post of NC; son-in-law, Tom Conway; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers: Gerald Zaransky and wife, Karen, and Stephen Zaransky and companion, Nicolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Conway.

All are welcome to join Marlene’s family for her memorial service 7 PM Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor George Price will officiate. Friends will be received from 5 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions in Marlene’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
