Marion Jane Neyhard, 79, of Bloomsburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Gardens at Orangeville, 3 days after admission. She was born November 11, 1937 in Philadelphia, a daughter to the late Henry and Francis Mason Shaffer, Sr. Marion was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School, where she was a majorette in the band. She was a talented artist and singer, who loved flowers, cooking, dressmaking, biking, jigsaw puzzles, and playing Scrabble with her family, which she would often champion. Marion was a kind, compassionate, devoted, and loving wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving Marion are her son, Donald Neyhard II of CT, three daughters: Lynn Major of NH, Lisa White and husband Thatcher of CA, and Laurel Gerber and husband Matthew of Bloomsburg, three grandchildren: Kimberly Miller of NH, Melissa Maguire of NH, and Thatcher White II of CA, five great-grandchildren, three sisters: Joyce Hornberger and husband Earl of CA, Jean Slowick and husband, Bill of Berwick, and Jan Rishe and husband, Richard of Bloomsburg, brother, Henry Shaffer and wife Barbara of Lime Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. While still in high school, Marion was courted by Donald E. Neyhard I and they were married in 1956 after Donald served as a merchant marine. They spent 59 years together until Donald's passing in March, 2015. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 11at the Community of Christ Church, 8th and Market Streets, Bloomsburg. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Janice Rishe and Henry Shaffer, Jr. will serve as the officiants.
