Mae L. Milo

Mae L. Milo, 93, formerly of Berwick, passed away Friday, October 9, 2014 at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident. She was born May 14, 1921 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Howard and Beulah Baker. Mae lived most of her life on South Mercer Street. She was a full time wife and mother who was very active in the community. She served as chaplain for both the VFW Post 821 and the West End Fire Company. As a member of the Columbian Democratic League, Mae volunteered to help get out the vote during elections. She also belonged to the American Ukrainian Club and the Sacred Heart Society. Mae worshiped at SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Church, where she married Stephen Milo on February 8, 1941 and celebrated 61 wedding anniversaries until his passing September 20, 2002. She was known at the church as the "pyrohy lady" because she helped make potato dumplings every Friday for the church to sell. Surviving Milo are daughters: Rose Dietterick and her husband, Barry of Berwick and Veronica Milo, also of Berwick, grandsons: Jeremy Dietterick of Berwick, LeRoy Klinger of Berwick, and Timothy Klinger and his wife, Jayne of Wisconsin, great-grandsons: Cody and Justin Klinger, and great-great-grandchildren: Addisyn and Dakoda Klinger. Visitation is 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 15 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. A Parastas will be held at 7 PM. Her funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 11 AM at SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Church, 706 Warren Street, Berwick. Fr. Volodymyr Popyk will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow at SS. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Berwick. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mae's memory can be made to SS. Cyril and Methodius Church.
