Lucille Horsefield, age 91, passed away peacefully at Geisinger Medical Center on Monday, January 4, 2021 from complications of Covid. She was a resident of Maria Joseph Manor for the past 18 months and previously lived in Berwick for more than 65 years. She was born on April 10, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre to the late George and Mae (Morris) Ichter of Ashley. She graduated from Wyoming Seminary in 1947, subsequently graduated from its Dean School of Business in 1950 and then worked in the Luzerne County Courthouse Comptroller’s Office. She married Richard L. Bower on November 7, 1953 who predeceased her in 1971, and later married Joseph H. Horsefield on November 12, 1978 who predeceased her in 1998.
Lucille was a gracious woman with a sweet disposition who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to various states, but especially liked beach vacations at Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. After retiring as the Accounts Payable Supervisor of Wise Foods in 1991, she volunteered many hours at the Berwick Hospital Gift Shop and Berwick Retirement Village Nursing Home. Lucille participated in a few card clubs, enjoyed various YMCA activities and was a member of the 20th Century Club. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church-Berwick for more than 60 years and enjoyed her time as a member of the Church’s Circle Elizabeth.
Lucille is survived by a son, David I. Bower of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; daughter, Dona J. (Bower) Seward and son-in-law, Roland Seward of Danville; granddaughter, Elaine A. Seward of Washington, DC; step-grandson, Christopher Horsefield and his fiancée Antoinette Jenkins and step-great grandson Joseph C. Horsefield all of Coral Springs, Florida; and step daughter-in-law, Sandy Horsefield of Berwick. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Joseph C. Horsefield.

Lucille’s services will be private. She will be interred at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. Her pastor, Pastor Bill Klebe will officiate.
