Leroy L. “Killer” Ogin, Sr., 84, of Wapwallopen, died peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Embassy of Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre. Born in Nanticoke on October 26, 1940, he was the son of the late Earl L. and Cora E. (Craver) Ogin.
Mr. Ogin was a graduate of Newport High School and proudly served in the United States Army. In February of 1965, he wed the former Gail L. Samsel, with whom he would raise their son and share more than 59 years of marriage. Leroy was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Hobbie. For more than 40 years he worked at Ed Spencer’s Auto Parts, retiring in 2006. Leroy was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving Leroy are his son, Leroy L. Ogin, Jr. and wife, Amy, of Wapwallopen and grandsons: Joshua Ogin and Zachary Ogin, both of Wapwallopen.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail L. (Samsel) Ogin, who died October 22, 2024.
