Laura L. (Beaver) Canouse

Laura L. Canouse, 90, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Monday, May 2, 2022 in her home. Born in Berwick on September 21, 1931, she was a daughter to the late Daniel H. Beaver and Rachel Mae (Shoemaker) Thorton.

Ms. Canouse was a graduate of Berwick High School. She served as a switchboard operator for Radio Communications in Bloomsburg for many years. Later, she worked at K-Mart in Berwick, both as a cashier and tending to the flowers. She loved working there with her close friends. Laura enjoyed flower gardening, puzzles and maintaining a tidy house. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

Surviving Laura are her children: Jackie Davis and husband, Wayne, of Mound, MN, Lewis Canouse and wife, Kathy, of Blue Bell, Barry Canouse of Berwick, and James Oram and wife, Donna; grandchildren: Molly, Eric, Maryellen, Lewis, Emily, Meredith, and Michael; great-grandchildren: Reggie and Connor; nieces: Sherrida, Brenda, and Lorri; and nephew, Brett.

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her stepfather, Lewis “Pinky” Thorton; brother, Wilbur Beaver; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “Lisa” Canouse.

All are welcome to join Laura’s family for her memorial service 11 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service.
