Kristie R. (Kishbaugh) Hancock

Kristie R. Kishbaugh Hancock, 49, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Bloomsburg on March 8, 1971, she was a daughter to Ernest Kishbaugh and wife, Maricel, of Berwick and Cheryl (Hess) Yohey and husband, Paul, also of Berwick.

Kristie was a graduate of Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, Class of 1989, where she studied horticulture.  She continued her education at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester.  Kristie had worked at Berwick Offray in Berwick.  She was very active in the local deaf community.  She helped to organize events within the community and volunteered a great deal of her time assisting deaf elderly individuals with their appointments and groceries, as well as dining out with them.  She was involved with Bloomsburg University’s deaf events as well as the Wilkes-Barre Society for the Deaf.  She attended St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton, and was a member of the Berwick V.F.W. Auxiliary 821.  Kristie loved spending time with her family and friends, by whom she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Kristie is survived by her companion of eight years, Frances Bartos of Dunmore.  Also surviving is grandfather:  Ted Hess, brother:  Brent Kishbaugh and wife, Laurie, step-sister:  Rochelle Ladrigad, her best friend since childhood:  Katherine “Kitty” Fogarty, her beloved cat:  Sassy, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kristie was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Arabella Hess and Clifford and Bertha Kishbaugh.

All are welcome to join Kristie’s family for her funeral 12:00 noon, Monday, July 13 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Pastor Chad Hebrink of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate.  Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Briar Creek Union Cemetery, Berwick.  Memorial contributions in Kristie’s name can be made to Animal Resource Center, PO Box 439, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.  Online messages of love and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
