Khanh Van Tran, 60, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Friday morning, April 5, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his children. He was born April 3, 1959 in Laos. Khanh's parents were Vietnamese who moved to Laos to escape the war for control of Vietnam. He eventually made his way to America, settling in the Wilkes-Barre area where he met and married his wife, Binh in 1983. Later they moved to Bloomsburg and then Berwick. Binh died in 2009 after 29 years of marriage. Khanh worked for many years at Del Monte Foods, currently J.M. Smucker/Big Heart Pet Brands in Bloomsburg. He enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun Casino, however; spending time with his children and friends was what he loved most. Surviving Khanh are his son, John Tran, daughter, Elizabeth Evangelist, and brothers: Vinh and Qui. A visitation will be held 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd Street, Berwick. Following cremation, Khanh's cremains will be interred at the Linh Son Riciting Institution in Quitman, TX.
