Kevin L. Hess

Kevin L. Hess, 67, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 20, 2025 at his home.  Born in Berwick on November 25, 1957, he was a son to the late Stephen and Jeanette (Pursel) Hess.

Mr. Hess was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, Class of 1975.  Following his graduation, he proudly served in the Army National Guard.  Kevin was a faithful member of Sunshine Full Gospel Church in Shickshinny, where he was involved in many activities.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  Kevin was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Beagle Club, a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania State Archery Association, and had been a member of the Berwick Archery Club.  He loved hunting, fishing, and time spent in the outdoors, as well as traveling.

Surviving Kevin is his fiancée, Katherine E. Welch; a brother, Robert Pucket; and cousins: Margaret Monroe and Glenn Monroe and his wife, Laura.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his wife of 16 years, Rachel S. (Derby) Hess, who passed away November 30, 2019.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Pucket, and aunt, Virginia Monroe.

All are welcome to join Kevin’s family for his funeral at 11 AM Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Reverend John Ritchey will officiate.  His viewings will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday, July 24, 2025, both at the funeral home.  Interment with Military Honors at Old River Church Cemetery, Wapwallopen, will follow the funeral.  Memorial contributions in Kevin’s name may be made to Sunshine Full Gospel Church, 513 Sunshine Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.  The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Hess family.  Online messages of comfort and support may be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
