Kathryn L. Scholz, 74, of Berwick, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Berwick Retirement Village I. She was born February 8, 1942 in Philadelphia, a daughter to the late Charles Morris Bruck and Leona DePater Bruck. Kathryn was a graduate of Germantown High School. She loved children and for many years she ran a daycare from her home, in addition to managing and co-owning Continental Creations beauty salon. A member of the First Baptist Church of Berwick, she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Music and knitting were secondary only to spending time with her family. Surviving Kathryn is her loving husband of 42 years and business partner of 38 years, Dieter. Also surviving are son, David Emmell of Berwick, daughters, Melissa Varner and her children: Eric, Kira, Jake, and Cole of Berwick and Lauren Emmell and her daughter, Hannah of Royersford, sister, Nancie Gearhart of Elizabethtown and her children, William Gearhart, Jr. of Elysburg, and Cindy VanAken of Lebanon. In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis and niece, Sandra Greenfield. Visitation, followed immediately by her funeral service, is 9:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Mike Delp, Chaplain at Commonwealth Hospice will serve as the officiant.
