Kathryn Dehaven

Kathryn Jane DeHaven, 71 of Lime Ridge, died unexpectedly Friday, April 13, 2018 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1947 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Elmer and Betty (Heaps) DeHaven. Kathryn was a graduate in the Class of 1964 at Central Columbia High School. She then continued her education at Bloomsburg State College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education. Her first job after graduating was at the Unemployment Office in Berwick, where she worked for a few years before taking a position with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, where she worked until her retirement. She was a member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and participated in many church activities including a mission project for making baby blankets. Kathryn loved doing crafts and traveling both throughout America and to many foreign countries. A thoughtful and loving sister and friend, Kathryn will be greatly missed by everyone she knew her. Surviving Kathryn is her sister, Bonnie Lou Cheeka and husband, Louis of Hazleton, aunt, Gayann Strausser and husband, Thomas of NY, uncle, Robert C. Heaps of Lititz, numerous cousins, and her "furry babies": Enzo, the French Bulldog and Patches the cat. Visitation is 6-8 PM Thursday, April 19th at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, 6405 4th St., Lime Ridge. Kathryn's funeral is 11 AM Friday, April 20th at the church. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Retired Methodist minister, Pastor Edward Cope, will conduct the services. Contributions in Kathryn's memory may be sent to the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church.
