Katherine Louise Sitler, 68, of Bloomsburg, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. She was born March 14, 1950 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Robert LeRoy and Marthena Mae (Hunsinger) Hontz. Kathy was a graduate of the Berwick High School Class of 1968 and the Geisinger School of Nursing Class of 1971. After graduating, she worked as a registered nurse for almost six years at Geisinger in the Intensive Care Unit and the Operating Room as the lead nurse on the newly-formed open-heart surgery team. Later, she worked in retail sales at the former Main Street Interiors and Exclusively You in Bloomsburg, retiring in 2010 to become a daytime caregiver for her first grandchild. Kathy loved her grandchildren and enjoyed caring for, reading to, and playing with them. They became the joy of her retirement life. She also loved flower gardening and landscaping. Kathy's other hobbies included sewing, baking, watching movies, reading, and listening to music. Her favorite artists included the Beatles, Barry Manilow, Michael Jackson, and Billy Joel. Her daughters still know the words to "Copacabana." Surviving Kathy is her loving husband, Douglas, with whom she celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in July.
