Karen J. (Nespoli) Lylo

August 20, 1942 — January 3, 2018

Karen J. Lylo, 75, of Berwick, was surrounded by her family as she passed away peacefully at home following a brief battle with cancer, Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She was born August 20, 1942 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Leonard and Bette (Rush) Nespoli. Karen graduated from Berwick High School in 1960 and Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1964. She then taught at Salem Elementary School for a few years before leaving to devote herself full time to raising her children. After the children were grown, she returned to Salem Elementary and taught 1st grade until her retirement in 2004. She also helped her son at his jewelry store in Bloomsburg. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially the moments shared with her grandchildren and hosting gatherings in her home. She was an avid Penn State fan who enjoyed going to Nittany Lion football games with her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Karen will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known her. Surviving Karen are her daughter, Amy Machulsky and husband, Mike of Macungie, sons: Tony of Berwick and his fiancé, Teresa Williams, Jeff and wife Brooke of Bloomsburg, and Greg and wife, Dana of Berwick, and grandchildren: Courtney, Mitch, Maggie, Jackson, Maxwell, Bryn, and Reese. As well as her parents, Karen was preceded in death on January 10, 1994 by her loving husband of 28 years, Myron Lylo, Jr. Also preceding was her brother, Dr. Anthony Nespoli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Matthew Larlick 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick. Visitation is 9:30 AM until time of the service. Contributions in Karen's memory may be sent to the McBride Memorial Library, 500 N. Market St., Berwick, PA 18603 or Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall, 190 Maria Hall Dr., Danville, PA. 17821. The Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home is honored to assist the family.
