Karen S. (Hook) Eckroth

November 26, 1959 — May 17, 2020

Karen S. Eckroth, 60, of Berwick, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on November 26, 1959, she was a daughter to the late George and Florence (Wilson) Hook. Karen was a 1978 graduate of Benton Area High School. Following graduation, she was employed by Wise Foods in Berwick, for which she worked for 40 years. Karen was a member of Summerhill E.U.M. Church. She was a kind and caring woman who was always willing to lend a hand wherever and whenever needed. She had a mind that allowed her to remember, and recognize, all of the important dates for her family and friends. Karen loved arranging flowers and tending to those that she grew. She also enjoyed motorcycling and camping with her family and friends. Karen loved animals, especially her Shih Tzu, Shelby. Her greatest joy, however, was the time spent with her family and friends, all of whom will miss her deeply. Surviving Karen is her loving husband of 40 years, David K. Eckroth. Also surviving is her son: Jeremy Eckroth of Berwick, brother-in-law: Dale Eckroth, sisters-in-law: Cheri Hargraves and husband, Theodore, and Diane Hook, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Lou Arner and David Hook. As a consequence of current pandemic restrictions, Karen's services will be private. Officiating will be her pastor, Pastor Deb Harvey. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Summerhill E.U.M. Church, 157 Twin Church Road, Berwick, PA 18603 or to American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Eckroth family. Online messages of love and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com
