Josephine M. (Gottstein) Keyser, 80, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomsburg with family by her side. Born in Bloomsburg on May 5, 1943, she was a daughter to the late Raymond B. and Goldie I. (George) Gottstein.
Josephine was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School. On December 9, 1961, she wed Robert C. Keyser and together they shared 44 years of marriage, raised five children, and operated Keyser’s Café in Mainville for nearly 35 years. “Feeny” as she was known to close friends, was one of the best mothers you could ask for. Always on the go, there were few things she was incapable of accomplishing and it was rare to find her without a spatula, crochet needle, or deck of cards in her hand. At the nursing home, she enjoyed puzzles, crafts, Bingo, weekend outings with her family, and trips to the casino. Regardless of where she was, her smile was contagious, her energy was boundless, and her love and dedication to family unwavering.
Her passions in life and many talents will live on through her children: Terri Fought and husband, Thomas, of Lewisburg, Stephen Keyser and wife, Denise, of Mainville, Sheila Carl and husband, Doug, of Berwick, and twins Scott Keyser and husband, Roger Miller, of Newport, and Todd Keyser and wife, Michelle, of Mainville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Walter Gottstein.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, who passed away April 21, 2005. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Julia Kaszmetskie, Leonard Gottstein, and Marie Hartley.
