Joseph S. Zerbe

Joseph S. Zerbe, 97, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick.  Born in Sunbury on August 15, 1927, he was a son to the late Dan and Alva (Bucher) Zerbe.

Mr. Zerbe was a graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Army from 1950-1952. He was employed by PPL from 1947-1950 and then by Pennsylvania Gas and Water until his retirement in 1991.  Joseph was a life member of Elks BPO Berwick Lodge 1138 and of Americus Hose Company in Sunbury.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. (Marks) Zerbe, in 2017.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Glenda Wozniak and husband, John, of Berwick; sons:  Joseph Roush and wife, Jackie, of Nescopeck and Daniel Zerbe and wife, Christina, of Berwick; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings:  Frank Zerbe of Sunbury and a Dorothy Mikolajczyk of Georgia.

All are welcome to join Joseph’s family for his funeral 11 AM Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Rev. Linda Mericle, Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick Chaplain, will officiate.  His viewing will be from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Interment at Rose Lawn Cemetery will follow.  Memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to Elks BPO Berwick Lodge 1138 Youth Activities, 117 W. 2nd Street, Berwick, PA 18603.  The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Zerbe family.  Online messages of comfort and support may be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
