Joseph C. Horsefield of Berwick passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side Saturday, August 1, 2015, after battling numerous health issues for several years. He was born October 19, 1956 in Danville, the son of the late Joseph H. and Maxine (Sterner) Horsefield. Most of his working years were in retail sales. His employers included Lowe's, Walker's Jewelers, Press Enterprise, and the First National Bank of Berwick. Joe was a member of the Class of 1974 at Berwick High School where he played trumpet in the band. His love of music continued after graduating from high school, as he played in both the Danville Legion Band and the Berwick Colonial Band. He also was an avid Penn State football and New York Yankee baseball fan, and enjoyed local sporting events as well. Joe's faith was rock solid. He worshiped at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Berwick, where he was very active. He was a member of the Bell Choir and served on many various committees as well as the church council. Surviving Joe are his loving wife of 33 years, the former Sandy East, their son, Christopher of Harrisburg, step-mother, Lucille I. Horsefield, step-sister, Dona Seward and her husband, Rol of Danville and their daughter, Elaine of Washington, DC, step-brother, David Bower of Washington, DC, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 7 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1600 Fowler Avenue, Berwick. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of the service. Pastor Chad Hebrink will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
