John Raymond Kinney, 83, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home with his family at his side. Born in Berwick on May 24, 1942, he was a son to the late Steve and Jeanette (Tedesco) Kinney.
Mr. Kinney was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1960, and continued his education at Frederick College. He worked at Crompton and Knowles while living in Virginia, and upon returning to Berwick, worked at Berwick Offray. On September 25, 1986, he wed Gertrude Fowler, with whom he would share 38 years of marriage. John was an avid golfer, loved football, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving John is his wife, Gertrude (Fowler) Kinney. Also surviving are his children: Lisa Kinney, John Kinney, Jr. and wife, Tanya, and Christopher Kinney; stepchildren: Vickie Toig and husband, Bruce, Cindy Butz and husband, Randy, Judy Reichert, Tammy Laubach and husband, Vance, Terry Hacker and wife, Missy, and Francis Hacker, Jr. and wife, Karen; grandchildren: Autumn and Genevieve; siblings: Steve Kinney and wife, Sylvia, Bernadine Shomo and husband, Dave, and June Chevalier and husband, Marc; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by siblings: Joseph Kinney and Merry Carol Gotto.
All are welcome to join John’s family for his Funeral Service 11 AM Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Rick DiLena will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Berwick, will follow his funeral.
