Janet B. Koons, 84, of Salem Township, died peacefully at her residence with her family at her side Friday evening, August 15, 2014. She was born April 27, 1930 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Edward and Clara (Drake) Wilson. A graduate from Berwick High School, Janet worked for years at the former U. S. Radium plant in South Centre Township. She was very active at the Berwick Assembly of God, where she headed-up the Prayer Chain Ministry and was a Sunday School teacher. Her interests included reading, taking walks, and fishing. Surviving Janet are her son, Scott Rex and his wife, Kathy of Berwick, step-son, Mark Koons and his wife, Diane and daughter, Laura of Bloomsburg, and "grandchild," Brisco, the Goldendoodle. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death in 1979 by her loving husband, Robert L. Koons. Also preceding was her sister, Betty M. Wilson. Her funeral service is 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 19 at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East 3rd Street, Berwick. Dr. Archie Wright, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia, will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until time of the service. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 20 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick.
