Janet E. (Hess) Baskin

Janet E. (Hess) Baskin, 84, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, January 28, 2022 at Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Berwick on July 2, 1937, she was a daughter to the late George and Helen (Hunter) Hess.

Janet was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1955.  She had been a realtor, working for her family’s business, Vandermark Real Estate, and later, Realty World.  She enjoyed cooking, bowling, and chatting with her friends.  She loved holidays and the gatherings that came with them.  Her friends and family were most important to her, and she will be deeply missed by them.

Surviving Janet are her children:  Robert L. Vandermark of Bloomsburg, James W. Vandermark of Camp Hill, Allan W. Vandermark and wife, Jennifer, of Bloomsburg, and Shawn L. Vandermark and wife, Jodi Marsh, of Manning, SC; grandchildren:  Allan W. Vandermark, Jr., William A. Vandermark, Tanner W. Vandermark, Margaret E. Vandermark, and Krista K. Vandermark; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles R. Baskin, Sr., who passed away September 21, 2021.  Also preceding her were her siblings:  Derl Hess, Wayne Hess, James Hess, Donald Hess, Mabel (Hess) Bennet, Shirley (Hess) Kemp, Joanne (Hess) Harrington, Betty (Hess) Mackes, and Laura (Hess) Davenport.

All are welcome to join Janet’s family for her funeral 7 PM Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Pastor Chad Hebrink of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate.  Friends will be received from 5 PM until the time of the service.  Her interment at Pine Grove Cemetery Annex will be private.  Memorial contributions in Janet’s name can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.  Online messages of comfort and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
