Janet L. Henrie

Janet L. (Shelhamer) Henrie, 96, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Friday, February 6, 2026, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick. Born in Bloomsburg on February 2, 1930, she was a daughter to the late Arthur “Jack” and Ruth (Whitmire) Shelhamer.

Janet was a graduate of Berwick High School. On October 22, 1949, she wed Arlie Henrie, with whom she would raise her family and share 54 years of marriage. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, crocheting, and camping. A woman of great faith, Janet was a charter member of Ebenezer Faith Bible Church, where she assisted with VBS and served as janitor for 50 years. She was also a talented musician, playing both organ and piano and providing piano lessons. Throughout her many years at the church, she played organ for countless weddings and funerals. Janet’s greatest joys, however, were her family and the times spent with them.

Surviving Janet are her son, Timothy Henrie and wife, Linda, of Berwick; grandchildren: Tarah Kishbach and husband, Mitchell, of Orangeville and Taylor Henrie and fiancé, Joseph Ditzler, of Berwick; great-grandchildren: Kira Karchner and Tanner and Reagan Kishbach; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arlie Henrie, who passed away December 31, 2003; daughter, Joan, who passed away February 1962; and infant daughters: Carol, Karen, Kathy, and Susan.

All are welcome to join Janet’s family for her Funeral Service 11 AM Monday, February 16, 2026, at Ebenezer Faith Bible Church, 630 State Route 93, Berwick, PA 18603. Pastor Mike Massey will officiate. Her viewings will be 3-5 PM Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick, and 10 AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 11 AM at Ebenezer Faith Bible Church. Interment at New Ebenezer Cemetery will follow her funeral.
