Janet E Eckroth

Janet E. Eckroth, 81 of Berwick, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. She was born July 31, 1934 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Doyle Whitmire, Sr. and Florence (Knorr) Whitmire. She was a graduate of Berwick High School and worked for many years at the former Berwick Industries. Janet was a very active member of the Summerhill Evangelical United Methodist Church. She helped organize dinners and the Prayer Chain, was a member of the Charge Choir, and participated in many other church activities. Family meant everything to Janet. Her favorite activities included get-togethers, cooking, and baking. Her favorite time of year was spring, when she could spend time outdoors enjoying her yard. She also loved her pet cats. A loving and caring woman, Janet will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving Janet are her sons, David K. Eckroth and his wife, Karen of Berwick and Dale E. Eckroth of San Antonio, TX.; daughter, Cheri L. Hargraves and her husband, Theodore of Shickshinny; grandchildren, Jeremy D. Eckroth of Berwick and Theodore G. Hargraves II of Radcliff, KY.; brother, Doyle Whitmire, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Berwick; and sisters, Maetta Hess of Friendsville, PA. and Diane Hook and her husband, David of Berwick. Preceding Janet in death were her loving husband of 56 Years, Stuart E. Eckroth in 2010, brother, Carrol, and sister, Bonnie. Visitation is 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Her Funeral is 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Susan Knorr will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery.
