James L. White, Sr., 68, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Fort Campbell, KY on July 6, 1955, he was a son to the late Robert T. and Delores J. (Leonard) White.
A self-described “Army Brat”, Mr. White lived in many places in his younger years. He, himself, then proudly served in the U.S. Army. On March 2, 1978, he wed the love of his life, the former Judy Musselman. He had worked for many years at Friendly’s. James was a member of AMVETS Post 9, Berwick VFW Post 821, Eagle Hose Company, the Berwick Russian Glee Club, and the American Ukrainian Citizens Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He also liked playing pool. He loved spending time with his family, by whom he will be greatly missed.
Surviving James is his wife of 45 years, Judy (Musselman) White; children: Louise Chopyak, James L. White, Jr. and wife, Jennifer Ramirez White, of Berwick, Shane T. White, Sr. and wife, Chelsea, of Berwick, and Jeremy D. White of DE; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Robert T. White, Jr. of Luzerne and Cathy Saunders of Dallas.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Meek.
All are welcome to join James’s family for his funeral 6:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Compassus Hospice Chaplain Bob Barner will officiate. Friends will be received from 4 PM until military honors are rendered at 6 PM.
