James H. George

James H. George, 78, of Fishing Creek Township, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.  Born in Wilmington, DE on April 10, 1942, he was a son to the late James Walter and Anna (Braun) George.

James was a graduate of De La Warr High School in New Castle, DE, Class of 1962.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where would proudly serve as a naval aviator during the Vietnam War.  James would go on to a 38 year career with ICI American, from which he retired in 2001.  He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed planning and organizing the fishing trip with his family and friends, while also serving as the camp cook.  He was also known to be a tinkerer who undertook many projects around his home.  In his younger years, James liked to bowl and golf.  He was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving James is his loving wife of 38 years, the former Margaret “Peggy” Boston.  Also surviving are sons:  James T. George and wife, Betty, of DE, Robert H. Meade, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Millville, and Jeffrey A. Meade and wife, Shannon, of Berwick; grandsons:  Robert, Lundy, Jody, Zachary, and Austin; great-grandchildren:  Jenna, Liya, Lillian, Karliah, Robert, Hunter, and Carter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph A. George, and a sister, Anne E. Mitchell.

James’s graveside service will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street.  Pastor John Hill of Berwick Christian Church will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James’s name can be made to Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or to American Diabetes Association, P.O.
