James P. Brandt, 92, of Mifflinville passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Sunset Ridge in Lightstreet.
Born in Bloomsburg, on Dec. 18, 1933, he was the youngest son to the late Austin and Irene (Schucker) Brandt.
James enjoyed a fun and adventurous childhood in Mifflinville, graduating from High School in 1951. He served in the Army & Reserves 1953-62. He worked at the family business, Brandt Mills, retiring in 1990. He was active and served as President of the local Lions club, and was a lifetime member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church. James enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards, and cheering on or yelling at Philly sports teams. He was a fun-loving charismatic character who is remembered fondly by all those whose lives he touched.
James married the love of his life, Ann Harris, on June 12, 1954, sharing 69 wonderful years together before her passing in 2023. They were devoted to their family and enjoyed traveling and golf during retirement.
James is survived by his children: Beth Raczy and husband, Mitch, of Wyomissing, and Alan Brandt and wife, Heidi, of Bloomsburg; grandchildren: Michael Raczy, Michelle Raczy, TJ Brandt and Lydia Jones; great-grandchildren: Layne Raczy; Jaxon and Elijah Jones; Austin, Caelyn, and Hailey Brandt.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by siblings: Doris Adams, Gerald Brandt, and Richard Brandt.
All are welcome to join James’s family for his Memorial Service 11:30 AM Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Deacon James Jenkins will officiate. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at 11:30 AM. Interment with Military Honors at Mifflinville Cemetery will follow.
