Iva J. Zelesnikar, 96, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Elmcroft of Berwick. Born in Berwick on June 9, 1924, she was a daughter to the late Odes and Margaret (Miller) Dohl.
Iva was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1942. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception BVM Church, where she had been on the Council of Catholic Women of St. Mary’s Parish and worked in the Bingo Kitchen. She had been a Gray Lady of the Red Cross for 15 years and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross food bank, and at the VA. Iva was a generous and kind hearted individual who will be fondly remembered for her feisty personality.
Surviving Iva is her sister, Janice Hart and husband, Donald, of Berwick; a step brother, Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Iva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, the late David J. Zelesnikar, who passed December 30, 1989. She was also preceded by her children: Eileen A. Zelesnikar, Steven D. Zelesnikar, and Martin O. Zelesnikar; siblings: Larue O. Dohl, Faye A. Dohl, Fred R. Dohl, William C. Dohl, and Yvonne M. Traugh; and 6 step-siblings.
All are welcome to join Iva’s family for a graveside service 11:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2021 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Berwick. Pastor Mike Delp of Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice will officiate. Memorial contributions in Iva’s name can be made to Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick, 1409 N.
