Iris M. (Whitenight) Eckroth

May 31, 1934 — April 13, 2017

Iris M. Eckroth, 82, of Bloomsburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 13, 2017 at her home. She was born May 31, 1934 in Orange Township, a daughter to the late Ray and Maude (Ivey) Whitenight. Iris was a graduate of the Scott School in Espy. Afterward, she worked at Letterman's Bakery in Bloomsburg and Lady Esther in Berwick before taking on the duties as a mother and homemaker. After her children were grown, she worked at the Catawissa Shirt Factory. Iris enjoyed cooking, canning, reading, gardening, flowers, and collecting cook books, but most important to her was spending time with her family and her two dogs. Surviving Iris is her loving husband of 59 years, Leon. She is also survived by sons; Berton Eckroth and wife Pauline of Mifflinville, Brian Eckroth and wife Theresa of Bloomsburg, Dana Eckroth and wife Tamara of Missouri, and Gregory Eckroth and wife Mayumi of Kentucky, daughter; Pamela Seely and companion Sam Bongiovi of Northumberland, grandchildren; William, Christopher, Christina, Jonathan, Christine, Melissa, Nickolas, Tianna, Carissa, Calen, Matthew, Joshua, Samantha, Damen, and Curtis, great-grandchildren; Joslynn, Keyton, Laycee, Sean, Eric, Riley, and Isaac, and sister; Dorothy Miller of Bloomsburg. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her brother; Russell Whitenight, sister; Arlene Shuman, and grandson; Anthony. Iris's funeral is at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 19 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Mark Powlus will officiate. A viewing is 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 348 Martzville Road, Berwick, PA 18603.
