Irene Kathleen Talanca

Irene Kathleen Talanca, 62, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 10, 2015. She was born October 15, 1952 in Berwick, the daughter of the late Louis and Irene (Pavone) George. A beautician, Irene was an instructor for years at the former Jo-Mar School of Cosmetology in Bloomsburg. She was a strong-willed and determined woman who loved riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Irene also was a great cook. She was especially known for making fantastic meatballs. Her grandchildren were a great part of her life. If at all possible, she would attend every practice session and athletic event with which they were involved. Irene was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving Irene are her son, John W. Talanca and his wife, Autumn, daughter, Melissa A. Stoker, grandchildren: Michael, Nickolas, Alex, and Emily Talanca, Morgan Broyan, and Emma and Brandt Stoker, brother, Louis George and his wife, Gwen, and sister, Maria Yohey, all of Berwick. Irene's funeral is 2:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd Street, Berwick. Fr. Michael Laicha will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Irene's memory be sent to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
