Ida Elizabeth "Betsy" Wolfe, 80 of Berwick, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1933 in Plymouth, a daughter to the late Joseph and Ida (Shearer) Steever. A graduate of Berwick High School in 1951, Ida worked as a secretary at the Frank Croop Insurance Agency until she married and became a homemaker. In 1967 she became the bookkeeper for her and her husband's business: George R. Wolfe TV & Appliance Sales and Service of Berwick, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1996. Betsy enjoyed knitting, traveling, cooking and baking but most of all, being with and enjoying the company and love of her family. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Berwick, where she sang in the choir and was a member of various committees. She also was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of Ameranth. Surviving Betsy are her husband of 57 years and the love of her life, George R. Wolfe, daughter, Hester West and her husband, Leonard of Orangeville, grandchildren, Stephen and Eric Justick of Bloomsburg, and sister, Carolyn Stiner of Berwick. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Steever. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 2 at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East 3rd Street, Berwick. Betsy's funeral is 11:00 AM Saturday, May 3 at the funeral home. Pastor Ronald Hoffman will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. The family suggests that any contributions in Betsy's memory be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Berwick, PA. 18603.
