Hilda Mae Phillips

Hilda Mae Phillips, 100, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Friday, November 19, 2021 at The Gardens at Orangeville.  Born in Lehigh on June 11, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Minnie (Smith) Bilheimer.

Hilda attended the Berlinsville School.  In 1940, she wed the love of her life, the late James E. Phillips, Sr., with whom she would raise her family and share 46 years of marriage.  A woman of great faith, Hilda was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  She had enjoyed watching game shows and was an avid Philies fan.  Her greatest joy, however, was her beloved family and time spent with them.

Surviving Hilda are her children:  Rose Messinger of Berwick, Dennis Phillips and his wife, Ruthann, of Allentown, and Nancy Peifly of Allentown; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Phillips, Sr., who passed away January 8, 1987.  She was also preceded by a son, James E. Philips Jr. of Williston, North Dakota who passed away March 23, 2018 and 14 siblings.
