Headley K. Killian, aged 77, of 75 Mountain Road, Berwick, passed away on January 27, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Headley was born February 8, 1942, in Berwick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. and Dorothy (Folk) Killian. He joins his parents in heaven. Headley was a graduate of Berwick High School in 1960 and a 1965 graduate of Bloomsburg State College with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education and continued his studies obtaining a Master's equivalency in Science. He taught science courses at Northwest Area High School from 1965 thru 1968. From 1968 to 1987, he taught science courses at Central Columbia High School and became Chair of the science department. He had a passion for teaching with 22 years of service. Headley studied real estate at Penn State University and became licensed in 1972. He became a real estate broker in 1980, and also entered the appraisal industry. He held membership in the National Association of Review Appraisers and Mortgage Underwriters as a Senior Member (CRA) in 1984. He held membership in 1986 in the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers (CREA). He became a Pennsylvania Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser, January, 1992. He retired in June of 2017. During those years, he taught real estate courses at Penn State University, Hazleton Campus, Hazleton, for 3 years and real estate and appraisal courses at Bloomsburg University for two years. He was the Broker/Owner of Century 21 Killian Real Estate in Berwick from 1986 until 2016, and owner of Killian Appraisals, Inc. The National Association of Realtors bestowed the status of Realtor Emeritus upon Headley for 40 years in the real estate industry, from 1973 to 2013, in recognition of valuable and lasting contributions to the real estate profession. During his college years, he enjoyed bowling and Judo. He was a hunter all his life and a member of the National Rifle Association of America. Headley was dedicated to the work of the Lord; he was a founding member of Emmanuel Bible Chapel and Bethel Bible Church. He served in various capacities over the years including deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. Headley is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Edwards) Killian, to whom he was married on August 28, 1965, for a span of 54 years. Their three children and families include: Matthew and his wife Linda, Berwick; Michael, Bloomsburg; and Michelle and her husband Brandon Long, Danville. Headley has two granddaughters, Evangeline and Iris Long; a brother Mark Killian and his wife Nancy, New Castle, DE; a brother-in-law Donald Edwards and his wife Beverly, Berwick; nieces Melissa Taylor, Mindy Killian, Julie Holland, Brandi Bradrick; and nephews Luke Edwards and Kenneth Killian. Services will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St. (Almedia), Bloomsburg, with Pastor Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 9:30 until time of service at 11:30 a.m. A reception will be held following the service in the lower level of the church.
