Mrs. Gertrude H. (Stoker) Church

Gertrude H. Church, 99, of Berwick, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Berwick Retirement Village II, where she was a resident. She was born September 28, 1918 in Milton, a daughter to the late Boyd and Carrie (Hill) Stoker. A graduate of Berwick High School, Gertrude worked at the state unemployment office, Consolidated Cigar Company, and Berwick Offray before retiring. She was the oldest living member of the Beach Haven United Methodist Church. Her interests included sewing, doing crafts, baking, and tending her flower beds. Family meant the most to Gertrude, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind and loving woman who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Surviving Gertrude is her son, Thomas Church and wife, Kathie of Mifflinville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and daughter-in-law, Susan Church. As well as her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death July 6, 2006 by her loving husband of over sixty years, Thomas R. Church. Also preceding were son, Gregg (2013) and siblings: Olive, Mary, Blanche, and Boyd. Gertrude's viewing, followed immediately by her funeral, is 9:30 -10:30 Wednesday, January 17th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Pastor Michael Delp, Chaplain of Commonwealth Hospice, will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
