Frederick W. McAfee, 77, formerly of Berwick, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born November 16, 1936 in Berwick, a son of the late Frederick and Marian (Snyder) McAfee, Sr. A Navy veteran, Fred worked many years for Penndot before retiring. An avid fan of the New England Patriots, he also enjoyed bowling and hunting and was a life member of Eagle Hose Company # 2 of Berwick. Surviving are his wife of over 35 years, the former Sandra Sharrow, son, Howard "Butch" McAfee of Shickshinny, daughters: Tina Dale of New Hampshire and Melody Kingsley of Hunlock Creek, step-sons: John Peters and his wife, Lynette of Berwick and Michael Peters and his wife, Diane of Nescopeck, step-daughter, Kristine Meixsell and her husband, Gregg of Nazareth, eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brothers: Eli and Charles McAfee, and sisters: Elizabeth "Sis" Puterbaugh and Dallas Fenstermacher. Preceding Fred in death were sisters: Nancy Warner and Edna Brown, as well as his parents. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 23 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Pastor Scott Winter will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
