Franklin R. Dennis, 91, life-long resident of North Centre Township, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. He was born August 12, 1924 in North Centre Township, a son to the late George Roy and Laura (Petty) Dennis. Franklin farmed for most of his working years. He also drove truck for Harold Shuman and later for the Ferguson Trucking Company in Bloomsburg before working as a mechanic for eighteen years in the garage at the Wise Potato Chip Company. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Camper's Club of America and the Berwick Trail Blazers. Franklin also served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Berwick Christian Church. A hard working and loving husband, he is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, the former Ethel Redline. Also surviving are his sister, Gladys Winders of Dover, PA., brothers: Donald of Berwick and Bertis and his wife, Bonnie also of Berwick, and numerous nieces and nephews. As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Eudora and Lois. Franklin's funeral service is 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 25 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until time of the service. His pastor, Reverend John Hill will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park.
