Frances Rose John

Frances Rose John, 90 of Berwick, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 29, 1924 in Mocanaqua, a daughter to the late Joseph and Maria (Giambroni) Gerace. She attended Berwick High School and worked for years at the former Grant's store, and then K-Mart, in Berwick before retiring in 1989. Frances was a devout Catholic who loved her Lord and Savior with all of her heart. She faithfully attended services and events at St. Joseph's Church. After retiring, Frances became an active member with the Berwick Senior Citizens' Center and frequently traveled. In her leisure time, Frances enjoyed playing Pinochle and cooking. Her family and friends were very dear to her and the essences of her life. She was a kind and loving woman who will be greatly missed. Surviving Frances are sons: Joseph John and his wife, Zhen of Nanticoke, PA and Mark John and his wife, Judy "Sandy" of Limerick, PA; daughters: Grace Marie John of Nanticoke, PA and Sharleen Lehman and her husband, Clifford of Douglassville, PA; sister: Rose Crispell of Berwick and nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leo and sisters, Angeline and Anna. Her viewing is 6:00-7:00 PM Sunday, November 9th the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, November 10th at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick. Father Dennis Dallesandro will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Frances to be mailed to Columbia Montour Hospice Services (410 Glenn Ave. Bloomsburg, Pa 17815).
