Evelyn May (Heimbach) Webb

October 28, 1926 — February 26, 2017

Evelyn May Webb, 90, of Mifflinville, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. She was born October 28, 1926 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Charles S. and Martha K. (Ludwig) Heimbach. Evelyn was a graduate of Berwick High School Class of 1944. Upon high school graduation during World War II, she began working as a private secretary for Mr. Frank White in the Engineering Department of the ACF in Berwick. Later, she worked in the office of the Davis Farm Supply Company. Evelyn was a member of the former Bethany E.U.B. Church in Berwick for 40 years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Fellowship advisor, Good News Club teacher, Release Time Bible School teacher, committee chair of the church paper "The Beacon," member of the building committee, and Pastor's Visitor Assistant to Reverend Kenneth Heim. For the past 45 years Evelyn was an active member of the Mifflinville United Methodist Church. She served there as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and member of various church committees. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, William Joseph Steiner, and a brother, Earl Heimbach. Surviving Evelyn is her loving and caring husband of almost 50 years, Charles E. Webb. Also surviving are her son, Stephen Wayne Steiner and wife, Odeta of Bloomsburg, step-children: Ronald Webb and wife, Dalene of Berwick, Evelyn Webb of VA., and Mark Webb of York, 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and sister, Shirley Fetterman of FL. Evelyn's funeral is 12:00 noon Saturday, March 4th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service. Evelyn's pastor, John Bondhus will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park.
