Ethel C. (Smith) Kyttle

February 21, 1920 — September 24, 2017

Ethel C. Kyttle, 97, of Berwick, died peacefully Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Berwick Retirement Village II. Born in Berwick on February 21, 1920, she was a daughter to the late Harry C. and Mae (Fedder) Smith. Ethel was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, Class of 1939. After graduation, she worked at Milco, Consolidated Cigar Corp., and Berwick Industries, from which she retired at age 73. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ. Ethel enjoyed bingo and was an avid fan of Berwick football. She also enjoyed travel, including cruises, bus trips and Hawaiian vacations. Spending time and walking with Sarah, her cocker spaniel, was another of her favorite pastimes. A kind and loving mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Surviving Ethel is her daughter: Tammy Knorr of Mifflinville, sons: Clyde Kyttle and Hugh Kyttle, both of Berwick, granddaughter: Jessica Kyttle of Berwick, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Ethel in death was her husband, Clyde M. Kyttle. Also preceding were a brother: Jacob Smith, and sisters: Bessie Painter and Mary VanPelt. All are invited to join Ethel's family for her viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 27th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Her funeral is 10:00 AM Thursday, September 28th at the funeral home. Pastor Larry Smith of Almedia Bible Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Memorial contributions in Ethel's name can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
