Ethel R. (Redline) Dennis

October 8, 1921 — January 2, 2021

Ethel R. Dennis passed from Earth to Heaven on January 2, 2021at Sunset Ridge where she had been a resident since August, 2020.  She was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, thus ending her earthly journey at age 99.  Oh how she dreamed of this day and lived a life where all roads led to that ultimate finish.

She was born on October 8, 1921, the daughter of Arthur E. and Iva M. (McMurtrie) Redline in Briar Creek Borough.

She attended Berwick Schools and graduated from Berwick High School in 1939.  Thereafter she went to work for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania as a telephone operator and retired from AT&T in 1978 at 57 years of age.

She married Franklin R. Dennis on January 7, 1948 and his death on May 21, 2016 severed a marriage of 59 years.  She was also predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Jessie R. and Michael Polowchak , a nephew John Loy Polowchak, Barbara his wife and their sons, John L. Jr. and Michael; daughter-in-law, Virgie Polowchak, and great nephew, Austin Rickmers.

Ethel was not blessed with children of her own, but her nieces and nephews were blessed with her as their very special Aunt.  She had the distinction of being a Great, Great, Great Aunt. We would jest that with each passing year she just got greater and greater.

She leaves behind niece, Sharon Weaver, nephews:  Van Polowchak and Perry (Deborah) Polowchak. Great nieces and nephews: Valerie (Conrad) Vought, Victoria (Richard) Bitman, Melanie Weaver, Angela (Bruce) Rickmers, Greg (Amy) Weaver, Jason (Michelle) Polowchak, Jessica (Jacob) Herendeen and Van (Tanager) Polowchak. She was also blessed with 16 great, great nieces and nephews and 6 great, great, great nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed traveling, camping and crafting and spent many enjoyable vacations while traveling with the Berwick Trailblazers. In her later years when camping was no longer an option she loved her Tuesday evenings spent with her great nieces playing games, as long as they let her win, which she often legitimately did. Her favorite food was ice cream and even in the nursing home, she was sure to have some every day.

Last, but of utmost importance was her membership with the Berwick Christian Church.  She could be found there as long as she was able, participating in the services the church had to offer or lending a helping hand with any tasks that might need doing.  Much gratitude is expressed to Dennis and Patti Kishbaugh who drove her to church when she was no longer able to drive herself. You are the light of the world.
