Ethel H. Borem, 90, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Monday, December 15, 2025, at home with her family by her side. Born on January 16, 1935, in Hollywood, PA, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Ellen (Kemler) Reichert.
As a child, Ethel’s family moved to Berwick. On July 16, 1971, she married her loving husband, Denzil Borem, in Rochester, NY. They then moved to Berwick. Ethel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Berwick. Her passions were knitting, reading, playing cards, shopping, and singing in the church choir.
Ethel will be greatly missed by her husband, Denzil Borem; daughters: Barbara (Edward) McHenry and Brenda (Ronald) Jones; son, Stanley (Julie) Borem; daughter-in-law, Linda Miller; step-daughters: Debby Greutman, Wendy (Jeff) Manaco, and Cindy (Greg) Lada; sister, Lida Snyder; sister-in-law, Phyllis; grandchildren: Richard (Kelly) Miller III, Denzil (Tracy) Hacker, Ronald (Miranda) Jones, Nickolas Borem, Vincent Borem, Sydnee Johnson, Joel, Mark, Ben, Amy, Taylor, Jed, Danielle, and Billy; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by son, Richard Miller, Jr., and brothers: Donald, Warren, Nelson, Elmer, Ralph, and Lester; sisters: Alice, Irene, and Laura; and son-in-law Ed Greutman.
Ethel’s family would like to give a special thank you to her caregiver, Rose, and everyone at Geisinger Hospice for the exceptional care provided.
All are welcome to join Ethel’s family for her Funeral 11 AM Monday, December 22, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1315 Fairview Ave, Berwick. Her pastor, Reverend Chad Hebrink, will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 AM. Interment at Rose Lawn Cemetery will follow. Memorial contributions in Ethel’s name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church at the address listed above. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Borem family.
