Esther Jane (Ash) Miller Esther Jane Miller, of Berwick and late of York, devoted wife and beloved mother, passed away at age 78 in Hanover Hospital on May 21, 2015. Esther (known lovingly as Jane) was born on December 14, 1936 to Elizabeth and Raymond S. Ash, was raised in Berwick and graduated from Berwick High School in 1954. She married Richard Cledith Miller at the age of 19 and was a devoted wife and mother of four. She faithfully supported her husband's 29-year Air Force career. Richard and Jane and family lived all over the United States and beyond as a military family, with tours in Louisiana, Oregon, Hawaii, Washington DC, Okinawa and finally in Philadelphia. While her daughters were growing up, Jane served as a Girl Scout leader. Following her husband's retirement from the military, Jane and Richard settled in Glen Burnie, Maryland, where Jane continued to support her husband in his 2nd career with the General Services Administration in Baltimore. Jane also served in a critical administrative assistant role in Richard's service to the Little League organization, while he served as Maryland District 4's Administrator. Jane was also a devout Jehovah's Witness and served faithfully since her baptism in 1987. After spending over 25 years in Maryland and missing their home state of Pennsylvania, Richard and Jane relocated to York PA in 2007. Jane was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard (Dick) Miller, who passed away on November 24, 2014, as well as her sister, Sarah Rex, of Berwick who passed in September 2014 and her brother, Raymond Ash, Jr, of Nescopeck, who passed earlier this year. Jane is survived by her brother, Edward Ash, of Berwick PA and her sister, Anne Lottie Clark of Nescopeck PA; her children: Linda Wolf and her husband David Wolf, of York; Susan Garber and her husband Nelson Garber, of Towson, Maryland; Randolph Miller and his wife Barbara Miller, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Christine Monkhouse and her husband, Samuel Monkhouse, of Hanover, PA; her four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Jane's funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Summerhill Cemetery.
