Esther Mae Ash

Esther Mae Ash, 92, formerly of Mifflinville and Fowlersville, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Berwick Retirement Village, where she was a resident. She was born January 13, 1922 in Mifflinville, a daughter to the late Harry and Annie Lara (Ney) Summers. Esther enjoyed quilting and gardening. She and her husband of over 50 years, the late William X. Ash, Sr. raised vegetables and nursery plants for over 40 years in Mifflinville and Fowlerswville. As well as her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Roadarmel of Bloomsburg and a great-grandson, Jimmy McCarty. Survivors include daughter, Sally Ann Zimmerman and her husband, Guy of Nescopeck, two sons: Larry W. Ash and his wife, Lenore of Connecticut and William X. Ash, Jr. and his wife, Laurie of Jerseytown, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Esther's funeral is 11:00 AM Thursday, August 7 at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd Street, Berwick. Pastor Mike Delp of Stillwater Christian Church will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow at the Mifflinville Cemetery.
