Elvin Jay Leiby Jr., 85, of Mifflinville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Bloomsburg on May 29, 1941, he was a son to the late Elvin J. and Elnora (Roberts) Leiby Sr.

Jay was a graduate of Mifflinville High School, Class of 1959. On May 27, 1960, he wed the former Patricia A. “Pat” Augustine. Together, they raised their family and shared 66 years of marriage. Jay had been employed by Automatic Vending, Bercon Packaging, Dyco Inc, and Sunrise Pools and Spas, from which he retired. A man of great faith, he was a member of Lime Ridge New Hope Church and had served for many years as a Certified Lay Speaker. Jay was a proud Mason, being a member and Past Master of Knapp Lodge #462 F&AM and Berwick/Bloomsburg Royal Arch Chapter #218. He was a very handy individual who enjoyed tinkering and building things, including two airplanes and a car. He loved flying and motorcycling. More than anything, Jay treasured his family and friends, as well as the times spent with them.

Surviving Jay is his beloved wife, Patricia A. (Augustine) Leiby. He is also survived by sons: Melvin J. Leiby and wife, Gina, of Mifflinville and Christopher L. Leiby and wife, Denise, of Nescopeck; grandchildren: Thomas Leiby, Rachael Leiby Jasinski and husband, Jarrett, Latisha Leiby Cragle and husband, Jonathon, and Latia Leiby; two great-grandchildren; and siblings: Joanne Varner of Millville and Jerry Leiby and wife, Victoria, of DE, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Bork and her husband Michael, as well as brother-in-law, Carl Varner.

Jay’s services are private. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Leiby family.
