Elmer R. Bennett, Sr.

Elmer R. Bennett, Sr, 96, of Scott Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Gardens at Orangeville. Born June 1, 1929, he was a son to the late Alfonzo “Bud” and Hazel (Dalious) Bennett.

Elmer attended the Scott School. In 1955, he wed Dawn E. Frantz, with whom he would raise his family and share 63 years of marriage. Elmer was a member of Hidlay Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Orangeville Sportsmans Club. He was a long-time employee of the Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and cutting firewood.

Surviving Elmer are his son, Elmer R. Bennett, Jr. and wife, Becky, of Bloomsburg; granddaughter, Jessica Bennett; step-grandson, Bret Sutton; great-grandson, Nolan Smith; and siblings: Donald Bennett, Larry Bennett, Frank Bennett, Gary Bennett, Shirley Showers, Annie Wynn, and Debbie McCarr.

In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dawn E. (Frantz) Bennett, who passed away February 2, 2018. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Richard Bennett, Albert Bennett, and Dawn Campbell.

All are welcome to join Elmer’s family for his Funeral 11 AM Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Rev. Daniel W.E. Warntz will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Interment at Hidlay Cemetery will follow.
