Eleanor M. Kizer

September 24, 1930 — April 20, 2019

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Eleanor M. Kizer, 88, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Londonderry Village in Palmyra. Born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania September 24, 1930, she was a daughter to the late Earl and Anna (Way) Kizer. Eleanor was a graduate of Downingtown High School. She proudly served as a nurse in the United States Army from 1955 to 1975. During her time in the military, she was selected to be part of the team that operated on President Dwight D. Eisenhower. After her retirement from the Army, she continued her career as a nurse until her retirement from Berwick Hospital in 1995. Eleanor was an avid bowler who competed in league play well into her 80's. She also enjoyed baseball, and had played softball in her youth. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her friends and family, by whom she will be sorely missed. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Helen Rhoden of OH and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by brother, Earl Kizer, and sister, Dorothy Travitzky. All are welcome to join Eleanor's family for her funeral 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 25 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Eleanor's name can made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org. Online messages of love and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
