Eleanor H. Hendricks

Eleanor H. “Ellie” Hendricks, 78, of Berwick, passed away peacefully at her home and with her daughters at her side Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Born in Nanticoke on June 21, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Antonik) Butz.

Ellie was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Class of 1966, and continued her education at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton, NJ, where she earned her degree in radiology. She was a longtime employee of the Berwick Hospital, having served more than 30 years prior to her retirement in 2013. Ellie enjoyed cooking and baking, especially at her favorite holiday dinners: Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also enjoyed flower gardening and puzzle books. Her greatest treasures, however, were her family, her friends, and the times spent with them.

Surviving Ellie are her daughters: Jennifer Hendricks of Berwick and Tracey Paris of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed the family cats, Jumba and Robin as well as grand-dog, Stewie.

In addition to her parents, Ellie was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Witinski.

All are welcome to join Ellie’s family for her Memorial Service 11 AM Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Geisinger Hospice Chaplain Alan Langelli will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 AM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanticoke, is private.
