Elden \"ELDIE\" Benjamin, Jr., 58 of Berwick, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born December 11, 1955 in Danville, a son to Shirley Wise Benjamin and the late Elden Benjamin, Sr. A graduate of the Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School in 1974, he was a mechanic like no other. Eldie worked as a mechanic on both vehicles and all kinds of machinery at Wise Snack Foods, G&B Specialties, and his own business: Benjamin\'s Garage. He was a great guy with a BIG heart who always had time for his family and friends. He would do anything he could to help those in need. He was the best big brother a person could ask for. As well as cars, he enjoyed camping, tractor pulls, and racing. Eldie spent many nights working with his brother\'s pit crew. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers: Lee Allen Benjamin, Sr. and Terri Benjamin and his companion, Lorraine Hidlay, both of Berwick, a sister, Rebecca Benjamin Whitebread and her fiancé Bradly Beck of Berwick, ten nieces and nephews, a six great-nieces and nephews. As well as his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Benjamin. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, February 20 at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East 3rd Street, Berwick. His funeral is 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.
