Reverend Dr. Charles L. Deutsch, 82, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Berwick Retirement Village II. Born at his family's Coplay, PA home May 16, 1936, he was a son to the late Charles and Mildred (DeReamer) Deutsch. Charles attended Whitehall Area Schools, after which he proudly served in the Air Force. He was a life-long learner who went on to obtain his doctorate from LaSalle University. He served as a professor at Penn State and as president of the Allentown Business School. Charles was a determined individual who accomplished what he set out to do while maintaining an attitude of humility. He was a wise teacher and mentor who offered encouragement and a smile to everyone he met. A good and faithful servant to the Lord, Charlie was a member of the Berwick Assembly of God. He was also a member of the American Legion. Surviving Charles is his daughter: Cynthia Hudock of Berwick, son: Richard Deutsch of CA, grandchildren: Jacob Hudock, and Rebecca Hewett, great-grandchildren: Phoebe Hewett, Piper Hewett, Katherine Hewett, and Matthew Freeman, sister: Violet Liable, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy (LaBella) Deutsch. Also preceding were siblings: Rosemary Briggs, Dorothy Graboritz, Marianne Suranofsky, and Thomas Deutsch. All are welcome to join Charlie's family for his funeral 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 17 at Berwick Assembly of God, 801 East 5th Street, Berwick. Pastor Steve Potutschnig will officiate. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until time of service. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick.
