Dorothy M. Waltman, 89 formerly of Nescopeck, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Berwick Retirement Village II. She was born February 6, 1926 in Berwick, a daughter to the late Sterling and Hazel (Welliver) Carl. A graduate of Bloomsburg High School in 1945, she worked as a clerk and buyer at the former Pursel's Department Store in the 1940's. Dorothy was a member of the Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as an assistant Sunday School Teacher, assisted with Junior Church, took disciple classes, and helped with other various church functions. She also was a member of the Euphema Sunday School Class. Dorothy's favorite hobby was sewing. Surviving Dorothy is her sister, Arline Drumm of Espy, in-laws: Jayne and Jack Soberick of Millville, David and Patsy Waltman of Hetlerville, and Alba and Robert Kishbaugh of Berwick, and many nieces and nephews. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald in 2005, daughter, Patricia Ann in 1975, brother, Wilbur S. Carl in 1988, and sister, Rosabelle Crossley. A viewing will be held 2:00- 3:00 PM Tuesday at Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, 140 E. 2nd St., Berwick followed immediately at 3:00 by her funeral service. Pastor Ralph Hartenbach will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy requested that contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at Bower Memorial Church.
