Donna Rae (Beck) Monroe, 67, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, ending her 23 year battle with breast cancer. She was born August 7, 1950 in Berwick to Roland and Janet (Canouse) Beck. Donna was a 1968 graduate of Berwick High School. She married Edward F. Monroe, Jr. on October 4, 1969 in Whitfield, PA. She held a variety of jobs in accounting, banking, and eventually quality control in the nuclear industry, where she always held her work and that of others to the highest standards. Donna's most prized accomplishment was building her family, raising her children, and watching her family expand to include her beloved grandchildren. Being a mother was the only goal she truly wanted to achieve. However, in a time when few women rose in male dominated fields, she excelled in quality control with Brand Industrial Services in the nuclear industry. Donna was an eternally optimistic, joyful, and grateful person who always had a smile for everyone. She was beloved for her laughter, kindness, and her manner of always being gracious and giving unconditional love. Donna was also known for her love of holidays, especially Christmas, shopping, her amazing fashion sense for her daughters and granddaughters, and her visits to the sunny beaches of Assateague Island near the town of Chincoteague, VA. She is survived by her husband, Edward; 3 daughters: Hayley A. (Scott) Kuchta, Harveyville, PA., Jan M. (Ernie) Higman, Lynden, WA., and Devon R. (Peter) Monroe-Schepis, Berwick, PA.; 3 granddaughters: Kaetlyn R. (Colin Matter) Kuchta, St. Louis, MO., Corynn A. Kuchta, Millersville, PA., and Adysson C. (Ryon Bodwalk) Monroe, Berwick, PA.; sister, Marilyn (Beck) Keller and family, Wernersville, PA.; sister-in-law, Jeanne (Joe) Gardier and her two sons: Steven (Karen) Beck and Michael (Kris) Beck and daughter, Leah, Washington Crossing, PA.; and her two furbabies: Mr. Buttons and Tabitha. As well as her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Lanny M. Beck, and nephew, Tab A. Beck. No memorial services are planned at this time by Donna's wish. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Donna's memory to the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research, 555 11th Street, NW, Ste 300, Washington, DC 20004. The Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home is honored to assist the Monroe family.
